Hi Learners here is some help with your show me tell me questions.

1. Q: Show me how you would check that the brake lights are working on the car.
A: Ask the examiner if they can check the back of the car while you turn the ignition on and press the foot brake to activate the brake lights (don’t start the car though). You might also be able to see the reflection of the lights on a wall or in windows.
TIP : The examiner will stand behind the car you have to show him they are working in the TELL ME question you will only have to explain this to him.

2.Q: Show me/explain how you can check that the power assisted steering is working before starting a journey.
A: The power steering can be checked by pulling on the steering wheel whilst starting the engine you will notice a release in the steering wheel which is the power steering activating, the steering should not feel unnaturally heavy either.

3. Q: Show me how you would clean the windscreen using the windscreen washer and wipers.
A: Turn the ignition on and operate the windscreen washer lever.

4.Q: Show me how you can check the direction indicators are working.
A: Turn the hazard warning lights on, get out and check from the pavement that the front indicators are working and the back ones (both sides).
TIP : Remember to close the drivers door when checking the exterior lights.

A: Turn the fan on, twist dial round to blow onto the front window, Use rear demister button to demist the rear.

A: Press the horn if you are off road if not explain where the horn is and how you would use it.

A: Switch on ignition if necessary put on your dipped headlights then your rear fog lights explain to your examiner the there on by showing him the rear fog light indicator.

A: Press the foot brake, release the handbrake, re-apply the handbrake and the handbrake shouldn’t come up too high and not be at the end of its working travel, the handbrake should secure itself when button is released.

9.Q: Show me how you would switch your headlights from dipped to main beam and explain how you would know the main beam is on whilst in the car.
A: Turn the ignition on. Twist the light switch from off position, then side lights, then to dipped. You then need to pull the left lever towards you for the main beam. Tell the examiner that you can see the (blue) main beam warning light is displayed on the dashboard.

10.Q: Open the bonnet, identify where you would check the engine oil level and tell me how you would check that the engine has sufficient oil.
A: This involves you opening the bonnet. You would check by removing the dip-stick, wiping it clean of oil, dipping it back in, removing it again and the oil should leave a mark between the maximum and minimum marker.

A: This involves you opening the bonnet. The coolant can be checked by looking at the maximum and minimum levels found on the side

A: This involves you opening the bonnet. It can be checked by opening it up and checking that it has sufficient washer fluid inside.

13. Q: Tell me where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.
A: It can be checked by looking at the maximum and minimum levels found on the side of the brake fluid reservoir.

A: Tell the examiner that the pedal should not feel slack or spongy. The vehicle should not pull to one side when braking.

A: Tyre pressure information can be found in the car manual. You can check the tyre pressure by using a tyre pressure gauge.

A :The tread depth can be measured using a tread depth gauge. You should have a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm, there shoud be no cuts or bulges visable on the tyre.

A: the head restraint should be adjusted so that the rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as your eyes/ears and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable.

A: Turn the ignition on and turn the headlights on. Tell the examiner that you would then get out and check that both front headlights and the back tail lights are working properly
